AUDITION NOTICE

The Adventures of Alice and Dorothy​Auditions: April 17 6pm-8pm, April 19 6pm-8pm​You have heard of "Alice in Wonderland" and "The Wizard of Oz" but you have never seen them like this before. Two girls meet in a boarding school for those with overactive imaginations. They become friends and confide in each other. All is well until they end up in each other's worlds! How will Dorothy do with the Red Queen? Will Alice make it past the Wicked Witch?.....​

All roles are open! This play is for all ages! Adults, kids, whole families, we would love to have you!​

Come with a story of the craziest thing that has ever happened to you! Sides will be given for cold readings.​
Rehearsals will be held on Sundays 2pm-5pm, Mondays 6pm-8pm, and Wednesdays 6pm-8pm.​​

Performances: July 28, 29 @ 7pmJuly 30 @ 2pmAugust 4, 5 @ 7pmAugust 6 @ 2pm​

Roles available (Ages are flexible):

Alice (female, 8-10 years old):
A young girl from a proper upbringing. Alice recently returned from Wonderland, but her family did not believe her and sent her away to an institution. Alice is not an impulsive girl after Wonderland, and thinks through each situation at length.

Dorothy (female, 12-15 years old):
A girl who grew up on a bleak Kansas prairie. She grew up with her aunt and uncle helping them to tend to the family farm. Dorothy is a traditional and simple girl, who can be a bit impulsive.

Professor Rathburn (male or female, late 20s+):
One of the professors at the institution. They do not care about any of the children at the institution, rather they simply care about their paycheck.

Uncle Jenson (male, late 20s+):
Alice's uncle who heard about her being put into the institution. Alice has not seen him since she was very young. He has come to take Alice to his home. He hides another, larger secret as well.

WONDERLAND CHARACTERS

White Rabbit: (male or female, any age):
A messenger and herald to the Queen of Hearts. A rushed creature, who is often late. Seen always wearing a waist coat and pocket watch.

Caterpillar (male or female, any age):
The first creature one meets in Wonderland. A very wise creature, who is able to provide valuable advice on the history of Wonderland. Very selfish/full of themselves. Likes to give answers in long-winded and sometimes confusing responses.

Mad Hatter (male or female, any age):
A creature that is off their rocker. The Hatter has no concept of time and thinks that it is always tea time, so they are always at tea. The entire tea party is simply chaos.

March Hare (male or female, any age):
A guest at the Mad Hatter's tea party. The tea party is taking place at the March Hare's house, so he resents the Mad Hatter trying to take charge of the party.

Dormouse (male or female, any age):
A guest of the Mad Hatter and March Hare's tea party. A narcoleptic creature. He is apt to falling asleep anytime, no matter the place, event, or circumstance. Good at story-telling.

Tweedledee (male or female, any age):
Twin to Tweedledum. Loves creating chaos and telling stories. Most of what they say makes no sense.

Twin to Tweedledee. Loves creating chaos and telling stories. Most of what they say makes no sense.

Queen of Hearts (female, 16+):
The Queen is in charge of the chessboard of Wonderland and has a say in who gets to cross. She is feared by most of the inhabitants of the land. She delights in the ordering of executions.

Cheshire Cat (male or female, any age):
They can act as the navigator for those who are lost in Oz. Possesses an eerie grin that is fixed. They are capable of appearing and disappearing at will. Can be a helpful navigator when they want, but can also be an unhelpful one.

Ace of Hearts (male or female, any age):
The leader of the troops of cards. Holds power over the other cards in the unit, but is still a servant to the Queen of Hearts.

3 of Hearts/6 of Hearts/9 of Hearts (male or female, any age):
Cards that are in the Ace of Hearts troop. Servants to the the Queen of Hearts.

OZ CHARACTERS

Glinda (female, 16+):
The Good Witch of the South. A wise and generous character. She helps Dorothy, in the original tale, to leave Oz, by giving her silver slippers.

Munchkin Mayor (male or female, any age):
In charge of Munchkinland after the enslavement/death of the Wicked Witch of the East. The mayor feels that it is their duty to protect their people from any and all powers (good and evil).

Scarecrow (male, any age):
Recently got a brain from the Wizard of Oz. He is very intelligent and resourceful. He is the ruler of Oz in the wake of the Wizard's departure from Oz. He is very upbeat and can usually put a positive spin on a situation, or at least try to.

Tin Man (male, any age):
Recently got a heart from the Wizard of Oz. He used to be a real man, but was cursed by the Wicked Witch of the East, who slowly turned him into tin, limb by limb. He is very kind and sensitive and always thinks about the other person. He is in charge of the Winkies after they are freed from their enslavement to the Wicked Witch of the West.

 

Lion (male or female, any age):
Recently got courage from the Wizard of Oz. He is courageous and caring and concerned with the safety and well-being of others. He is the ruler of all the creatures in the forest.

Wicked Witch of the West (female, 16+):
Previously thought to be dead after her encounter with Dorothy, the Witch returns having faked her death. She is powerful, bitter, full of rage, and still angry over the death of her sister, the Wicked Witch of the East. She covets what other characters have and vows to exact revenge.

Wizard of Oz (male, late 20s+):
The famous Wizard that all of the inhabitants of Oz respect and look to for information and miracles. He is a man from Omaha, Nebraska skilled in ventriloquism and operates in a circus as a balloonist. He ended up in Oz after losing control of his balloon. He is thought to have returned to Omaha, but may still be in the land of Oz.
